The War Memorial and Honours Board
The War Memorial and Honours Board in the TS office at Vasanta House proudly records the names of young men and women who went overseas.
Friends,
We are gathered together here to-day to celebrate a unique event in the history of our school – the unveiling of our War Memorial and Honours Board on which we are proud to record the names of those who went overseas – our old boys and girls who played a very active part in the Great World War of 1939 to 1945. From one point of view a very sad occasion for the relatives of those fine boys who made the supreme sacrifice, but perhaps their emotions may be not unmixed With pride that their sons should have risen so nobly to the call made upon them in the cause of Freedom and Truth and Light in the great World Crisis through which all the peoples of the Earth have been and still are passing at this time when the Powers of Darkness are making such a tremendous bid for World Domination. All the Forces of Light must be brought to bear against them if the World is to win through to Peace and Happiness.
Our War Memorial consists not only of the Honours Board, but of the beautiful bookcase which you see before you in which the Honours Board is incorporated. Such a beautiful memorial was made possible through the wonderful gift of one of our old girls.

Pupils that were enlisted:
We would like to acknowledge and thank those that attended our school, went to war and survived.
Mr Robert Turley. WW2. He fought the Japanese in the Islands, and in the Auckland War Museum there is a Japanese Zero plane - with a photograph of all the troops that helped capture it - and he is in the photo. (Mr Turley also attended our 2009 Reunion)
